What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are made of a range of different nutrients and acids. The most common are glycolic peels, but there are also trichloroacetic, lactic, carbolic, and salicylic peels. These components are safe and act as exfoliating agents, ridding your skin of dead cells and debris. An individualized skin peel is formulated to your specific needs. At It Is Well Healthcare, we create custom peels that range in intensity from mild to deep, tackling skin issues both small and large.

What Does a Chemical Peel Do?

Your chemical peel can be adjusted based on your specific needs. Generally, these treatments are a great choice for those struggling with hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and other similar concerns. For those who have sun damage, acne, or age spots, a mild acid may suffice. Those struggling with rosacea, melasma, or spider veins may benefit more from deeper chemical peels. At It Is Well Healthcare, we offer peels for the following conditions:

  • Acne and Acne Scarring
  • Age Spots
  • Aging Skin
  • Dull Skin
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Rosacea
  • Sun Damage
  • Uneven Skin Tone
  • Wrinkles and Fine Lines

Are Chemical Peels Safe?

Chemical peels are a safe method for exfoliating the skin and rejuvenating your look. Most of the chemical peels available at our clinic generally take 15-30 minutes to apply. During a peel session, you may feel a slight burning and stinging sensation as the chemical peel does its job. This feeling usually lasts about 5-10 minutes and tends to be more severe depending on the intensity of your chosen peel. In some cases, you may leave with some mild irritation after a peel, but this side effect will subside after a short while.

Why Choose It Is Well Healthcare for Chemical Peels?

At It Is Well Healthcare, our approach involves getting to know our patients on a personal level. We want to know what your goals are and how we can help you. When you come into our center, our aesthetician Taylor Garmon will discuss your chemical peel options and offer her suggestions based on your specific needs. This kind of personal, comprehensive care is a rarity in the aesthetic field and we’re deeply proud to provide it to you.

What Results Can I Expect?

Mild peels offer a nice radiance and glow with no downtime. The best part of choosing a mild peel is that it can be repeated every four weeks until the best results are reached. Medium and deep chemical peels can cause some irritation in the form of slight swelling, redness, and sensitivity. Afterward, your skin will peel over a period of 7-14 days. This exfoliation process is completely normal, but if you have any concerns, you are always welcome to reach out to our center! As your skin goes through its renewal process, you’ll need to avoid direct sunlight for several months after a chemical peel since your new skin will be fragile and prone to irritation.
